The tag is small on purpose.
At 13 mm, it reads more like jewelry than a military dog tag, which is why it is worn by women and men alike and sits comfortably under a shirt.
316 stainless steel is the grade used for surgical instruments and marine fittings. It does not tarnish, it does not react with skin, and it goes in the shower and the sea without a thought.
The gold is an IP finish bonded into the surface rather than a thin plating laid on top, so it does not wear pale at the edges.
The engraving is cut into the metal, not printed on it, so it cannot rub off.
Two sides means two different things can live on one small object: a name on the front and the date it started on the back, or a name facing out and something private facing in.

It is a small enough object that it does not announce itself, and that is usually the point. The person wearing it knows what is on the back.

Q: How much text fits?
A: About 12 characters per side sit comfortably at 13 mm. Fewer characters means larger, clearer letters. Send me a message first if your line is longer, and I will tell you honestly how it will look.
Q: Is this a big military-style dog tag?
A: No. It is 13 mm (roughly half an inch) with clipped corners. It is a jewelry tag, not an army tag, which is why it works for both women and men.
Q: Can I engrave coordinates?
A: Yes, and plenty of people do. Send them in whatever format you want them to appear, and I will engrave them exactly like that.
Q: Will the gold wear off?
A: No. It is an IP finish bonded into the surface of the steel rather than a thin plating on top, so it does not chip at the edges or go pale where the chain rubs.
Q: Will it rust or turn green?
A: No. 316 stainless steel does not tarnish or react with skin. It is waterproof, so the shower, the pool and the sea are all fine.
Q: Which chain length should I choose?
A: Both come with a 2-inch extender, so each one covers a range. The 16-inch adjusts between 16 and 18 and sits at the base of the neck. The 18-inch adjusts between 18 and 20 and sits lower, on the chest. If you are buying as a gift and do not know, choose 18.

Because every personalized item is handmade specifically for each customer, I do not accept returns or refunds for custom or personalized orders.
