A plain sterling silver cross, 37.7 mm tall, polished flat on both faces, leaving room to engrave the front, the back, or both.
It hangs from a 3 mm rolo chain, and the whole piece is built to be worn every day rather than kept for Sundays.

The cross itself carries no decoration.
No crucifix figure, no textured surface, no stones.
The arms taper very slightly toward the ends, and the rest is one clean, polished plane, which is what makes it engravable.
You can leave it exactly as it is, and most people do.
Or you can put a name, a date, or a few words on it, and then it stops being a cross and becomes that person's cross.
The front and the back are separate choices, so a name can go on the front with a date behind it, or the front can stay plain, and the whole message can sit on the back where only the wearer knows it is there.
Sterling silver is the base under both finishes.
The gold version is the same as the silver, with 24K gold plating, so the weight and feel are identical in both.

Engraving is optional, and it is one flat charge whether you use one face or both.
Type it all in the engraving box, front text first, then back text if you want one.
Example: Front - Daniel / Back - 12.04.2019.
Leave the box empty, and the cross arrives plain, at the plain price.
Up to 40 characters in total reads cleanly on a cross this size.
A name, a date, initials or a short line all work, and I will center the text down the long arm.
Engraving is permanent, so check the spelling before you add to cart.
I send you the layout for approval before anything is cut.

CHOOSING A LENGTH

14 and 16 inches are the child sizes, and 16 is the usual christening or first communion length.
18 inches sits at the collarbone on most women and on a slim teenager.
20 inches is the most-ordered length for a grown man, and it puts the cross at the top of the chest.
22 inches sits lower, clear of a shirt collar.
24 inches sits at the sternum and is the length to choose if the cross is meant to be seen.

A: No. This is a plain cross, not a crucifix. Both faces are flat, which is what makes them engravable.
Q: Do I have to have it engraved?
A: No. Engraving is optional. Leave the box empty, and the cross arrives plain, at the plain price.
Q: Can I engrave the front and the back?
A: Yes. Write the front text first, then the back text, and mark which is which. One charge covers both faces.
Q: How many letters fit?
A: Up to 40 characters in total. Send me a message with a longer line, and I will tell you how it will read before you order.
Q: Will you send me a preview?
A: Yes. I send you the layout for approval before anything is cut.
Q: Is it too big for a child?
A: At 37.7 mm, it is a grown size. For a baptism or a christening, most buyers choose it for a boy who will grow into it, on a 16-inch chain.
Q: Is the gold solid gold?
A: No. The base is 925 sterling silver in both finishes, with 24K gold plating. The silver version is the one that remains unchanged indefinitely.
Q: Will the plating wear off with time?
A: Yes, plating is a surface layer, and it wears off with daily use, faster on skin that is acidic.
Q: How do I look after it?
A: Keep it dry and away from perfume, lotion and cleaning products. Wipe it gently with a soft jewelry cloth after wearing. Silver darkens with air, which is normal, and it polishes back.
