The letters are not engraved into the surface. They are cut all the way through the wall of the band, so what you read is the shadow behind the opening, and the same words appear again on the inside of the ring. That is why the Hebrew stays legible at arm's length instead of disappearing into the shine the way a surface engraving does.
Cutting through is also what allows a wall of only 1.2 mm to carry a band this wide without feeling like a weight on the finger. The two raised rims run along both edges and hold the shape rigid, which a pierced band needs.
A 12 mm band already covers most of the space between the knuckles. At 16 mm it is a statement piece rather than a wedding band, and it is worth measuring against a ring you already own before choosing.
It suits a Jewish wedding, an anniversary, a bar or bat mitzvah, a conversion, or the wish to carry one line of Hebrew every day.

If you write it in English I will translate it into Hebrew and send you the Hebrew back to approve before anything is cut.
Common choices are Ani Ledodi VeDodi Li, Gam Zeh Ya'avor, the Priestly Blessing, a Psalm, a family name or a wedding date.
A wider band holds more text, so tell me the full phrase and I will tell you which width fits it. The cutting is permanent and cannot be changed afterward.

GETTING THE SIZE RIGHT

A wide band sits tighter than a narrow one at the same nominal size, because more metal is in contact with the finger. On a 12 to 16 mm band, go up a quarter to a half size from your usual.
The most reliable method is to have a jeweller size you with a wide sizer rather than a standard one. If you only know your size in a thin band, message me with that size and the width you want and I will tell you what to order.
Fingers are widest in the afternoon and in warm weather, so measure then rather than first thing in the morning.

Q: Are the letters cut through the ring?
A: Yes. They are pierced all the way through the wall, not engraved on the surface, so you can see them from both sides.
Q: Can I send text in English?
A: Yes. Write it in English and I will translate it into Hebrew, then send you the Hebrew to approve before cutting.
Q: How much text fits?
A: It depends on the width and on the phrase. Send me the full text and I will tell you which of the three widths carries it comfortably.
Q: Which width should I choose?
A: 12 mm for a wide wedding band, 16 mm for a statement ring. Hold a ruler against your finger before deciding.
Q: Can it be resized later?
A: A wide band with cut letters is very difficult to resize without disturbing the text. Order the correct size rather than planning to adjust it.
Q: Does sterling silver tarnish?
A: It can darken over time, which is normal for 925, and a little darkening inside the letters looks right on this ring. A soft cloth brings the rims back.
Q: Is it heavy?
A: Less than it looks. The wall is 1.2 mm and the letters are open, so a 16 mm band weighs far less than a solid band of the same width.
