The engraving is laser-cut into the steel, not printed on it, which is why a handwritten line retains the pressure and wobble of the original pen stroke rather than turning into a font. Send a photo of the actual handwriting, and that is what comes back.
Stainless steel was chosen because a dog tag lives against the skin and takes knocks. It does not tarnish; it handles sweat, water and the sea, and it keeps a sharp engraved edge far longer than plated base metal.
The 3 mm curb chain is heavy enough to sit flat and not twist.
It suits Father's Day, a birthday, an anniversary, Christmas, a deployment or a graduation, and it is one of the few pieces that works as a memorial.

22" sits just below the collarbone and shows above an open collar.
24" falls onto the chest and is the usual choice if he wears it under a shirt or has a broader frame.
If he already owns a chain he likes, measure that one and pick the nearer length.

Q: Can you really engrave handwriting from a photo?
A: Yes. Photograph the writing on plain paper in good light and message me the image. I clean it up, keep the stroke, and send a preview before cutting.
Q: Can you engrave a photograph?
A: Yes. A high-contrast image with a clear subject works best. Group shots and busy backgrounds lose detail at 35 mm.
Q: How much text fits?
A: A short line reads best at this size. For a longer message, use both sides, and I will tell you if it is too much before I cut it.
Q: Will the engraving fade?
A: No. It is cut into the steel rather than printed, so it does not rub off.
Q: Does stainless steel tarnish or turn skin green?
A: No. It does not tarnish or react with skin the way plated base metals can.
Q: Can I send a logo?
A: Yes. A clean black-and-white file engraves best.
Q: Which side is engraved if I choose one side?
A: The front. Say so in the personalization box if you want it on the back instead.
