Q: What does Chai mean?
A: Life. It is written with the Hebrew letters Chet and Yod, and in gematria they add up to eighteen, which is why gifts are often given in multiples of eighteen.
Q: Is it for men or for women?
A: Both. The pendant is the same. Men usually choose 20 or 22 inches and women 16 or 18.
Q: Which chain should I choose, box or Rolo?
A: The box chain is square-linked and sits flatter; the Rolo is round-linked and a little softer in the light. Both are 925 sterling silver.
Q: How big is the pendant?
A: 18 mm tall and 16 mm wide, cut 1.2 mm thick. Large enough to read clearly, small enough to wear under a shirt.
Q: Is the silver real?
A: Yes. Every version is 925 sterling silver. The gold and rose gold are 24K-plated over the same silver, which is why the color holds up with everyday wear at a fraction of the price of solid gold.
Q: Can it be engraved?
A: Not on the pendant itself; the Chai is cut as an open shape. Send me a message if you want something added, and I will tell you what is possible.
Q: Will it tarnish or turn my skin green?
A: Sterling silver will not turn skin green. Keep it away from perfume, lotion and cleaning products, and wipe it with a soft jewelry cloth.
